Refletive Symmetry

Walt: make a symmetry design.

We learnt to draw a symmetry shape online and reflect it. Reflective symmetry is like a mirror that reflects back on you, it looks exactly the same just opposite and sometimes the same. The hard part was trying to draw the Maori patterns because some Maori patterns had curved lines. I tried my best to draw some Maori patterns but it was complicating. The easy part was drawing the reflection of the easy shapes. Next I would like to find the reflection of hard shapes.

My phobias

Walt: Use the text to work out the meaning of unfamiliar words.

My phobias

My phobias is people following me in the night-time. If I see someone walking behind me at night and I am alone, I tend to walk faster or run to where I'm suppose to go. My other phobia is going for long boring rides, like driving all the way from Auckland to Wellington because I get car sick. I think I have a lot more phobias, I just haven’t figured them out yet.

Matariki

Walt: explain the Maori contribution to time.

Matariki
Matariki is the Maori name for a group of stars. Matariki begins at the end of the harvesting season. Maori celebrate Matariki because it is the Maori contribution to time. Matariki is history.

Celebrations

My tribe, in Ruatoki celebrates Matariki together. Before Matariki starts, everyone gathers in there food and stores it away from the cold, outside. Matariki is a time for remembering the dead and celebrating the new life. The songs that are played are tribal traditional songs. The Maori songs has been passed on through many generations.

Contribution to time

The Maori contributed to time in a very unique way. Maori could read time by the stars when they travel at night on the sea. Tawhirimatea, a early Maori teared his eyes out and flung them into the heavens. The 7 stars is a story. There are many different legends based on the stars.

Pevet, shoot and pass

Walt: be creative.

Netball-my choice

Pivot, shoot and pass
Today we played as a class
Defence, attack and some other things
Joy and laughter is what netball brings
Running, burning fat off
I play netball even with a cough
Aiming for more than 30 goals
In netball there is only two poles
Glen Innes school is truly the best
Honestly, we will beat the rest
We have only lost one game
Win win win, that's our aim
7 people on the court
Netball is my favourite sport
Goal Shoot is my position
Netball players are on a mission
